Intro: Vaping CBD like an expert

Vaping cannabidiol (CBD) is one of the best and most-effective ways of delivering CBD and other valuable plant compounds into your body, which is why so many CBD users swear by it.

However, if you’re someone who’s never vaped before, knowing how to vape CBD vape juice might seem confusing, but it doesn’t have to be.

In our comprehensive guide, we look at everything you need to know about vaping CBD for you to become the CBD vape expert we know you can be.

Why is CBD vaping popular?

There are several reasons why CBD vaping is more popular now than ever before.

Not only is it convenient, affordable, and a decent replacement for nicotine-based e-liquids, but it’s also one of the most efficient ways to deliver CBD into your body, providing you with almost immediate effects and benefits.

What is CBD vape juice?

Otherwise known as CBD e-liquid, CBD vape juice is a specially-made liquid carrying CBD hemp extract, thinning agents, and flavourings.

It’s designed to be used in a vaporiser, which heats the liquid to roughly 200-250 degrees, aerosolising it into a vapour ready to be inhaled. The two most common vaporisers are vape pens and vape kits.

What are the ingredients of CBD vape juice?

CBD vape juice is generally composed of four main ingredients: CBD hemp extract, vegetable glycerin, propylene glycol, and flavourings

1. CBD hemp extract

  • CBD hemp extract is the horsepower behind our range of CBD vape juice.
  • Naturecan uses a CBD isolate hemp extract in all CBD vape juice products.
  • You can learn more about CBD and CBD hemp extracts here

2. Vegetable glycerin (VG):

  • VG is a clear, odourless substance naturally sourced from vegetable oils such as coconut oil, palm, or soy.
  • The taste is noticeably sweet and enjoyable but not overwhelming for your taste buds.
  • When inhaled, VG has a smoother, more mild throat hit.

3. Propylene glycol (PG):

  • PG is short for propylene glycol.
  • It’s an organic food additive with a thick, almost syrupy consistency
  • PG’s taste is almost non-existent and has very little to no flavour.
  • When inhaled, PG has a strong, sharp throat hit.

The best PG/VG ratio

At Naturecan, we believe the CBD vaping experience should be enjoyable for everyone, regardless of experience level. So, whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned CBD vaping pro, we’ve formulated all our CBD vape juice products to include an 80:20 PG/VG ratio

The benefit of an 80:20 PG/VG ratio includes a smooth but still noticeable throat hit and an enjoyably sweet taste without being overwhelming.

How does CBD vaping work?

Like vaping nicotine e-liquid, CBD vaping works by heating CBD vape juice through a specialised vape pen or a similar vaporiser device. Heating the CBD vape juice causes it to become an inhalable aerosol, also known as a vapour.

When inhaled, the CBD-rich vapour directly enters your bloodstream via the air sacs lining both your lungs, also known as alveoli.

What’s important here is CBD and all other valuable plant compounds bypass your digestive system, meaning it doesn’t get broken down and metabolised by the liver before circulating around your body.

CBD bypassing the metabolisation process results in a quicker onset of effects and a bioavailability of approximately 56%

Bioavailability refers to the amount of CBD and other plant compounds hitting the bloodstream and circulating your body to produce the desired effects. The higher the percentage, the more effective your CBD vape juice product is.

How long does CBD vaping take to work in your body?

It’s difficult to put an exact estimate on how long it takes vaping CBD to start working in your body. Everyone absorbs CBD differently

As a general rule, the onset of effects can begin within a few minutes or longer depending on several factors, including body weight, how much CBD you vape in one sitting, and your tolerance level.

Comparatively, CBD oil effects can take up to 30 minutes if consumed sublingually (under the tongue), while the effects of CBD edibles might take up to 60-90 minutes

If you’re an experienced vaper or smoker looking for an efficient, fast-absorbing CBD product, Naturecan’s CBD vape juices should be your next go-to CBD product.

What CBD vape juice strength should you buy?

Everyone’s requirements are different and advising you on the appropriate strength is difficult. There’s no “one-size-fits-all” here. However, as a general rule, we recommend beginners follow the “start low, go slow” approach and see how it goes.

Our CBD vape juice product strengths start as low as 250 mg per bottle, which is enough for you to “go slow” and ease into the world of CBD vaping.

Remember: Only take a few slow, deep hits at first and see how you feel. If you need a top-up, take a few more hits until you reach your comfort level.

Potential benefits of vaping CBD

Whilst we’re not legally allowed to list the health benefits of vaping CBD, there’s nothing wrong with looking at the research

Studies show vaping CBD and other cannabinoids may support your endocannabinoid system directly or indirectly through various receptors, endocannabinoids, and enzymes around your body.

Your endocannabinoid system is a complex biological network within your body responsible for regulating core functions such as pain, inflammation, stress, mood, appetite, energy, and immune response.

The regulation of these core functions contributes to an internal and physiological balance state, otherwise known as homeostasis

What equipment do you need to use CBD vape juice?

Vaping CBD doesn’t require a lot of equipment. All you need is a suitable vaporiser. However, there are many vape devices to choose from, so which one do you go for?

Many beginners start with disposable vape carts or vape pens. These types of vape devices already contain pre-filled CBD vape juice, eliminating the need to fill them up yourself.

Unfortunately, most pre-filled vape pens are one-use products. Once the pre-filled liquid runs out, you have to buy another one straight away, costing you more in the long run. Since pre-filled vape pens are also single-use devices, they’re not environmentally friendly and create a lot of waste.

We recommend refillable CBD vape pens. A refillable vape pen typically consists of two parts: a tube-style battery and a vape tank attached to it.

The advantage of refillable CBD vape pens is all in the name. You refill them with CBD vape juice without having to throw them away and buy new ones, thus costing you less money over a longer period. Not having to throw them away each time is also less wasteful, and more sustainable and environmentally friendly.

How to vape CBD vape juice? (step by step guide)

Now you’re up to speed with the basics, you’re probably wondering how to vape CBD e-liquid specially designed for vape devices. It’s quite an easy process, provided you know and understand the simple steps you need to take.

To use Naturecan’s CBD vape juice, you need a refillable vape device. You can’t use disposable devices as you’re unable to refill them.

Here’s a quick step-by-step guide on how you vape CBD e-liquid using a refillable vape device:

1. Open the vape tank lid and fill it up with CBD vape juice. Try not to fill it right to the top. Leave a small gap to prevent excess juice from spilling out. Screw or place the lid back in position.

2. Prime the coil by leaving the device for 5-10 minutes, allowing the liquid to soak into the wick.

3. Turn on the device. Some devices require one click, while others require four or five clicks.

4. If your vape device has wattage or temperature settings, adjust as needed (15 watts maximum for Naturecan’s vape juice).

5. Hold the mouthpiece to your lips, press the button, and inhale slowly and deeply.

6. Hold the vapour in the back of your throat and lungs for a few seconds (maximum five seconds).

7. Exhale.

Is CBD vaping safe?

Vaping CBD is generally considered safe. A report commissioned and published by Public Health England shows vaping is 95% safer and carries far fewer harmful compounds than regular tobacco cigarettes. However, while vape products are generally considered a reduced risk alternative for smokers, we do not encourage non-smokers to take up vaping.

How to ensure your CBD vape juice is safe

The biggest safety problem facing CBD vape juice buyers is cheap, low-quality, and potentially harmful products.

Therefore, it’s vital you purchase high-quality CBD vape juice from a reputable CBD company that ensures no contaminants or hazardous ingredients are included in the formula.

At Naturecan, we take pride in making our CBD vape juice products as safe and transparent as possible.

We comprehensively test our products through independent laboratories specialising in cannabis testing and analysis, ensuring each of our CBD vape juice products is free from harmful contaminants such as pesticides, heavy metals, and residual solvents.

You can view our Certificates of Analysis (COAs) here.

Is CBD vaping for me?

Whether you’re a total newbie or a seasoned CBD pro, vaping is a fantastic way to deliver CBD into your body. It’s fast-working, efficient, convenient, and the flavour options are in abundance. A few hits from a vape pen or vape kit filled with CBD vape juice provide you with the almost instant power of CBD hemp extract.

If this sounds like something you need, Naturecan’s CBD vape juice promises a satisfying vaping experience, even if you’re a beginner.

Our CBD vape juice products are available in three different strengths (250, 500, 1000 mg). If you’re new to the CBD vaping scene, the 250 mg option is a great start.

How much CBD should I vape?

There is no standard starting dose for vaping CBD.  As with all CBD products, your dosage will depend on several factors, including your weight and reasons for using CBD.

We recommend that you start with a low daily dosage (e.g. 10 mg or 20 mg) and gradually increase this over a period of several days or weeks until you find your sweet spot. The UK Food Standards Agency (FSA) recommends a maximum total dosage of 70 mg CBD per day, so just remember not to exceed this amount.

For help finding a starting dosage based on your needs, try out our CBD dosage calculator here.

How much CBD is contained in each puff?

The amount of CBD in each puff depends on several factors, including how much you inhale, the strength of your vape juice and the wattage of your vape device.

You can estimate the CBD concentration of one puff by keeping track of how many puffs it takes you to get through half a cartridge. For example, if it takes you about 50 puffs to get through half a 1ml cartridge containing 500 mg CBD, you can divide 250 mg by 50 and estimate that each puff contains about 5 mg CBD.

How many puffs are in a 10ml CBD vape juice bottle?

There are approximately 1,000 puffs in a 10ml e-liquid bottle. Therefore, the strength of each puff is as follows:

  • 2.5% strength: 1 puff equals 0.25mg CBD
  • 5% strength: 1 puff equals 0.5mg CBD
  • 10% strength: 1 puff equals 1mg CBD

For example, if you’re aiming to get 40mg of CBD per day, you should take the following amount of puffs throughout the day:

  • 2.5% strength: 160 puffs equals 40mg
  • 5% strength: 80 puffs equals 40mg
  • 10% strength: 40 puffs equals 40mg

Alternatives to CBD vaping

If vaping CBD isn’t your thing or you’re wondering if there are other alternatives you can try first, look no further. There are plenty of options available to you, including CBD oils, CBD edibles, and CBD capsules, all of which harness the power of CBD and other beneficial hemp plant compounds, providing you with an unforgettable hemp experience.

1. CBD oils

CBD oils are some of the most popular CBD products currently on the market.

They’re convenient, easy-to-use, and suitable for all types of CBD users.

You simply place the CBD oil under your tongue, keep it there for about a minute, and wait for the CBD to absorb directly into your bloodstream. No inhalation is required. You can even add them to foods and drinks.

2. CBD edibles

CBD edibles, also known as CBD snacks, is an umbrella term for several different CBD products such as CBD gummies, CBD cookies, CBD peanut butter, and CBD chocolate. Each CBD edible product is made specifically for oral consumption similar to CBD oils and capsules. They’re not only delicious and flavoursome but also incredibly convenient and enjoyable at all times of the day. CBD peanut butter is great on toast in the morning, whilst CBD cookies are a fantastic nighttime snack after a meal.

3. CBD capsules

CBD capsules, sometimes known as CBD softgels, are rounded or cylindrical-shaped pills that are filled with CBD hemp extract and designed for oral consumption.

The advantage of CBD capsules is they’re slow-absorbing and provide you with gradual effects throughout the day. They also contain a pre-measured dose of CBD, helping you follow a strict daily CBD dosing regimen.
