Out of 800+ CBD companies, we have progressed along with 78 other brands to the next stage of the UK Food Standards Agency Novel Food Regulation.
As the UK’s leading CBD brand, this is no surprise. We have now progressed through to the next stage, towards licensing.
What is Novel Food and what does this mean?
Novel foods are foods which have not been widely consumed by people in the UK or European Union (EU) before May 1997. This means that the foods don’t have a ‘history of consumption’. Examples of novel foods include: new foods, for example, phytosterols and phytostanols used in cholesterol reducing spreads.
Until now, it’s been hard for customers to know which CBD products were safe and high quality. Novel Food Regulation has completely changed the game.
Novel Food application:
The UK Food Standards Agency have been clear on what they require from CBD companies in order to remain on the market. Novel Food Applications required companies like Naturecan to carry out Toxicology testing on our Broad Spectrum CBD. These tests are similar to those required for pharmaceutical products, so nothing is left to chance when it comes to product safety. Consumers MUST be able to trust in the products they buy.
Novel Food Applications also require ADME studies (absorption, distribution, metabolism and excretion) to show how the body deals with CBD after consumption. Naturecan performs stability tests on all CBD products, so you can be confident in the validity of our products’ expiry dates.
The dossier includes Naturecan Broad-Spectrum CBD Distillate and all other Naturecan CBD finished products – from tinctures and capsules, to nut butters and cookies. So whichever product you choose from the Naturecan range, you are assured of its safety and quality.
